“All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

“Victory Over Suffering”
The current national crisis presents us with an opportunity to show the world who we are in Christ Jesus. How do we do that? As God’s chosen people, a holy nation, a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9), endowed with the power of the Holy Spirit, we are called to lead the world from darkness into the light. We are part of God’s glorious and mysterious plan…to give hope to people who are in despair. This is the time for us to proclaim that Jesus is the Foundation and Chief Cornerstone (Isaiah 28:16) upon whom redemption and salvation can be secured. We, who believe, are the living stones.
Therefore, our faith-walk must be centered on four principal tenets, according to the charge given to us by Peter: (a) To encourage and strengthen the body (Luke 22:32), (b) To feed and care for the flock (John 21:15-17); (c) To be responsible citizens that live above reproach, and (d) To set good examples with the way we manage our families. These are the pathways to victory over suffering.
Peter’s First Epistle to the saints going through suffering, forms part of this month’s sermon series. This series attempts to address the issues of our day: the COVID 19 pandemic, the upcoming elections, hunger, unemployment, and our response to this chaos without losing hope and direction. We always must remember: We are Christ’s Elect and Living Stones!

PASTOR’S REFLECTION
“So too, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.…” James 2:17-18
