After Jesus’ resurrection, he gathered with his disciples in Galilee.
Matthew 28:16-17 says “Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted.” For forty days Jesus Christ remained with them; fed them, ministered to them, moved them from feelings of hopelessness and doubt to belief! Jesus opened their minds to understand the Scriptures (Luke 24:45) and prepared his disciples to live out the power of the resurrection. In Luke 24:46-48, he says “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance for the forgiveness of sin should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.”
We, as disciples of Jesus Christ, who have been saved by grace through faith, are called to live out the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is seen in our commitment to connect with God through His word and worship, in our repentance for our sins, and our ability to forgive and love others. We also live out the power of the resurrection by proclaiming Jesus Christ to others in words and deeds.
The sermon series reminds us that celebrating Jesus’ resurrection is not just reserved for one Sunday. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is in our WALK,
it gives us renewed hope, strength, and joy that will carry us throughout the year and beyond!
