Rev. Evans accepted his call to Ministry in 1993, transitioned from his professional career, and became founding Pastor of Village Community Church in Montgomery Village, Maryland. He was ordained at Mt Calvary Baptist Church of Rockville, Maryland under the leadership of Rev Leon Grant. He is a member of ABC-USA ABCOTS Ministers Council and the Montgomery County Black Ministers Conference. He received his theological training and MDiv from Capital Bible Seminary.

He experiences a “super-sized life” through the power of the Holy Spirit as he daily walks within his favorite Scripture, “This poor man cried and the Lord heard him and delivered him from all his troubles” (Ps 34:6). His favorite song is, “Just a Closer Walk with Thee.” He sees himself simply as “A Nobody trying to tell Everybody about Somebody Who can save Anybody” – and His name is Jesus.

In September 2002, Rev. Don planted Village Community Church.  In June 2006, he departed for Ukraine in support of building a Bible College to train new pastors dedicated to church planting. And then, he went on to Dubai, UAE to preach and visit with their sister church – Amazing Grace Church of Dubai. In October 2006, he led Village Community Church on a ten-day tour of Israel.  After serving vigorously for twenty years , Rev. Don retired as Senior Pastor, and is thoroughly enjoying his current season as Pastor Emeritus.

His wife, Terri Evans, co-labors with him and is his constant reminder of the indescribable goodness of God. They are empty nesters with three daughters and six granddaughters, and two great granddaughters. He asks for your prayers that God will have His way with them and with Village Community Church.
